About 

Jaunsari language is spoken in the Jaunsar-Bawar region of Uttrakhand. Earlier it was scripts : Tankri, Pandwani, Pabuchhi, Bhatwani, etc.

 

Status 

Despite being an independent Language, Jaunsari hasn't been recognised as an independent language till date by the government. Despite it's rich grammar and vocabulary, it is considered as a dialect of Hindi.

Currently it is an endangered languages and is predicted to go extinct within a few decades. The younger generation has shifted to hindi and english and is not keen to learn or use Jaunsari language.

 

Dialects 

Jaunsari has mainly three dialects:

-Standard Jaunsari 

  • -Devghari 
  • -Bawri
